An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.
Somehow I've made it to my 1000th posting. I started working on this as a way to keep myself entertained while working at a particularly awful office where I was asked to do particularly odious tasks (don't ask.) I now find myself having worked on this silliness for more than 3 and a half years (more than four when you count the initial daily emails this blog originated from.)
There's a great many sites I troll to create these daily posting (Thanks to all of you.) Remember I scour the depths of the internet so you don't have to.
Hopefully, I haven't offended too many readers (although if I have, you've probably long since left.) I've tried to be as factual as possible with most of these sarcastic scribblings (I've even gone back and changed some posting when proven absolutely wrong.) But I try to write this to amuse myself and hope you've enjoy the ride as well. Anyway in the next few days I hope to add a companion blog (which I will link to) that contains all the other crap that doesn't really fit in this blog. Think of it as Dr. Caligari's Cupboard.

A Beechcraft D-18 charter plane crashes into a tree near Natchitoches, Louisiana, killing singer/songwriter Jim Croce, his lead guitarist, and the entire flight crew.

On the same day, in their so-called 'Battle of the Sexes,' tennis star Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, at the Houston Astrodome .
In recent years, a persistent urban legend has arisen, particularly on the Internet, that the rules were modified for the match so that Riggs had only one serve for King's two, and that King was allowed to hit into the doubles court area.
This is false: the match was played under the normal rules of tennis.
